Surf Up Vox Box Product Review

So I was able to review a box of really great product this week, which I received complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster, but the opinions are my own.

Hawaiian Tropics Silk Hydration After Sun, with its ribbons of gel and lotion felt amazing on my back after running 12 miles in the morning sun then spending the day on the river. And not only does it feel so good but it also smells amazing, coconut papaya scent is terrific. I applied it last night and it was the first thing I was looking for after I woke up this morning, seriously, this is good stuff.

After an excruciating rope burn this week at CrossFit, this little shot of First Aid Shot Theapy "FAST" pain reliever could not have come at a better time. It's a drinkable shot which in its self would seem it would be faster acting, and it totally worked. With all the Ibuprophen I am taking for my foot, I wasn't sure it would make much of a difference and was pleasantly surprised when it did, making me and my beaten up body, a happy camper.

If you have little girls, you know how important it is for fingernail polish to go on in one coat and dry quickly, otherwise you run the risk of blue polish on the carpet, the furniture and little girl clothes. I was super happy to see that with one coat of SinfulColors Professional Nail Polish the girls had almost no wait for drying and were off without any concern for getting polish on anything. And they both loved the color, which is a big win around here, as rarely can we agree on one bottle of polish.

Last, but by far my favorite product to review, COVERGIRL Bombshell Curvaceous by LashBlast Mascara. The mascara has two brushes and two different formulas, the first to load volume, thicken and curl lashes and the second is a topcoat that seals in the mascara. The mascara works like waterproof mascara, which with running in all different weather and sweating, is a necessity. I'm in love with this mascara!

EveryMove Review

EveryMove is an app that I use to Pay it Forward. But EveryMove is really all about motivating people to move, no matter how they do it, and earn real rewards. EveryMove has rewards that you can earn via points that you get when literally just moving, whether that is running and CrossFitting or doing things like yard work or household chores. EveryMove syncs devices (like my Jawbone Up band or like the FitBit devices) and also syncs with other apps (I use MyFitnessPal & MapMyRun all the time, so it's super convienent). So your data, whether you add it manually, or it syncs over, converts into points, which in turn earn you rewards. I usually use my points to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Major Taylor Project or the Outdoors For All Foundation, earning them about a dollar a week, doing nothing more than I normally do anyways. They have tons of other rewards too, like 35% off Cellucor products (which is the PreWorkout I already use) or $100 of a Rebel Treadmill (which is a treadmill desk that I am pretty sure I need at work).
The coolest part to me is the bonuses you can earn by being more active, if I run and CrossFit then I earn an 'Active Day' bonus, worth even more points.
And they connect you with other people that use the app. Showing you their points and progress so you can encourage one another. They also recap your progress every month so you can feel super awesome.
For real, check it out and start earning!!!

  • salt & pepper
  • 2 cups organic vegetable broth
  • 4 cups organic brown jasmine rice
  • 2 tablespoon organic extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 lb bag of preferred frozen veggies
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Light it Up 5k Race Recap

Friday was a long run, 11 miles, and it was seriously the wettest imaginable run by the end. But my legs felt good, my lungs felt great (especially considering I've been fighting a cold) and I was soooo pleased with how good my foot felt.

Afterward was spent getting mani-pedis with my BAM running ladies and my girlies. :) Afterward Mandy, Amber and their significant others came over a little BBQ. Was a nice evening.
Saturday the we drove down to Ontario, which was a fun trip. That evening was the race. It was at dusk, so the light up tu-tus and glow gear Amber prepped us with weren't quite glowing yet. But after we looped downtown Ontario and finished up the race everyone was glowing. It was a flat course and fun to do. :)

And this weeks running recap:
Monday: CrossFit
Tuesday: 3.2 miles
Wednesday: 6.1 miles
Thursday: 2.4 miles & CrossFit
Friday: 11 miles
Saturday: Light it Up 5k, 3.1 miles

Total Mileage: 25.8 Miles

Next Weeks Plan:

Busy Meal Prep Night!!!

Tonight was a good night for some meal prep for the rest of the week! Made my favorite Oven Fajitas, some delicious Almond Butter Protein Bars, some terrific Homemade Almond Milk and boiled eggs for the rest of the week. And since I was on such a roll, decided to make a few new recipes! Made some delicious Creamy Avocado Chicken Salad , which was amazing! And decided to accompany it with the remaining half an avocado and some killer and extremely easy to make Black Bean & Corn Salad. Yummmmmmm...
This afternoon I ran my 6 miles on my treadmill, even with my iPad, six miles is just too damn long to run on that thing... NO MORE runs over 3 miles on that thing... (Although, will Bill out of town, I had no chance, so I will have to run on her again in the morning, lame...)

Black Bean and Corn Salsa

Black Bean & Corn Salad
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 can yellow corn, drained
1 can rotel
1/4 c finely chopped onion

Literal just mix the above ingredients. Good and sooo easy.

Chicken Avocado Chicken Salad

Creamy Avocado Chicken Salad
1 chicken breast , cooked and chopped
1/4 c black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 c yellow corn
1/4 c green onions. chopped
1/4 c chopped tomatoes
1/4 c corn tortilla chips, crushed
1/2 avocado, peeled and diced
2 T white vinegar
3 T mayo

Combine the chicken, beans, corn, onions, tomatoes, chips and avocados. Toss. Add the vinegar and mayo. Salt as desired. EAT! Soooo yummy. Makes 2 servings.

Monday Funday!!!

First thing this morning, CrossFit.
You know you have gone crazy when you need two pairs of Mizunos for one morning.
My legs were not impressed with so many squats, followed by a run. I told them they would get used to it.
They didn't agree. By the third mile, they did.
Then, Bill brought me flowers! They are my fav, Lilys, cannot wait to see what color!
Then after work we headed to the beach.
It was gorgeous out.
I kinda like this guy....

This week's workouts...

Monday was a rest day, so I went to CrossFit, where we did sprints... So no rest day after all. :)

Tuesday I was being a giant baby because it was the first week without the girls and didn't run... Like I said, giant baby. And ended up not doing a damn thing at all. Well besides that thing I have from 8-5, called a job.

Wednesday I slogged my lazy ass out for my scheduled five mile run and got over the fact that I do indeed have to share my girls for the summer. Running helped my boobfest and ultimately turned my week around.

Thursday was the Run for the Sun 5k, which was big fun, so I got these 3 miles in plus a .1.

Friday I made up for my pouting and got my 3 miles from Tuesday in.

Saturday, today, I ran my longest run scheduled for this week, a 6 mile loop. I was a touch dehydrated by the end, need to either run with my handheld waterbottle, hydrate with more than coffee beforehand or run a loop near a drinking fountain. Because thinking about robbing an innocent fisherman for the ice you are sure is keeping their 9am beer cool is just plain rude.

So this week: 17 miles which included a fun little 5k with my fav BAM gals. :)

The plan for next week:
Sunday: Rest
Monday: CrossFit & 3 mile run
Tuesday: 6 mile run
Wednesday: CrossFit & 3 mile run
Thursday: Rest
Friday: 11 mile long run
Saturday: Light it Up 5k (it's at night!!!!)

Summer Solstice Run for the Sun 5k Recap

Umm, no big deal, but this this is my 200th Blog Post!!!!

Anyways... Back to the race recap. In one word, I could sum this race up, HOT.
Running with my two favorite runners, Mandy & Amber is always such a blast. These two are funny, fun to be around and truly becoming such amazing friends of mine. I look forward to many, many more races with these two.
It was 88 degrees out, but still a fun little race!

Getting into the swing of a summer routine...

It's funny to me how much my routine revolves around my daughters. So this week, not having them here, has really thrown me for a loop. Monday I went to CrossFit as planned and since then everything has gotten a little crazy. For one, I've hardly eaten, and what I have eaten hasn't been my norm... Cooking dinner for two people when you usually cook for either 4 or 6 or 9 just makes no sense. But I have an entire summer of this one week on, one week off crap, so I better figure it out. (And try not to be a mess missing my baby girls all summer.)

This morning, after some much needed yoga, I made a meal list with the food we currently have in the house, completely cleaned out my entire fridge which was badly needed, made a grocery list, finished up washing all the girls' bedding, then put in my five mile run. I opted out on CrossFit this morning because I have a 5k with my BAM gals tomorrow night I didn't wanna limp through more than my shitty foot would cause. Followed that up with some foam rolling which felt really good. So things, although not my normal morning schedule, have seemed to kind of fall into their place.

Also saw this on a blog I read this morning which totally cracked me up.
I have to say, I am really enjoying being back at CrossFit for my strength training, and just the overall challenge that CrossFit offers. I'm sore in places I haven't felt in several years, seeing some results already, and enjoying the exhaustion that I only feel after a crazy CrossFit WOD.
