Light it Up 5k Race Recap

Friday was a long run, 11 miles, and it was seriously the wettest imaginable run by the end. But my legs felt good, my lungs felt great (especially considering I've been fighting a cold) and I was soooo pleased with how good my foot felt.

Afterward was spent getting mani-pedis with my BAM running ladies and my girlies. :) Afterward Mandy, Amber and their significant others came over a little BBQ. Was a nice evening.
Saturday the we drove down to Ontario, which was a fun trip. That evening was the race. It was at dusk, so the light up tu-tus and glow gear Amber prepped us with weren't quite glowing yet. But after we looped downtown Ontario and finished up the race everyone was glowing. It was a flat course and fun to do. :)

And this weeks running recap:

Tuesday: 3.2 miles
Wednesday: 6.1 miles
Thursday: 2.4 miles & CrossFit
Friday: 11 miles
Saturday: Light it Up 5k, 3.1 miles

Busy Meal Prep Night!!!

Tonight was a good night for some meal prep for the rest of the week! Made my favorite Oven Fajitas, some delicious Almond Butter Protein Bars, some terrific Homemade Almond Milk and boiled eggs for the rest of the week. And since I was on such a roll, decided to make a few new recipes! Made some delicious Creamy Avocado Chicken Salad , which was amazing! And decided to accompany it with the remaining half an avocado and some killer and extremely easy to make Black Bean & Corn Salad. Yummmmmmm...
This afternoon I ran my 6 miles on my treadmill, even with my iPad, six miles is just too damn long to run on that thing... NO MORE runs over 3 miles on that thing... (Although, will Bill out of town, I had no chance, so I will have to run on her again in the morning, lame...)

Black Bean and Corn Salsa

Black Bean & Corn Salad
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 can yellow corn, drained
1 can rotel
1/4 c finely chopped onion

Literal just mix the above ingredients. Good and sooo easy.

Chicken Avocado Chicken Salad

Creamy Avocado Chicken Salad
1 chicken breast , cooked and chopped
1/4 c black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 c yellow corn
1/4 c green onions. chopped
1/4 c chopped tomatoes
1/4 c corn tortilla chips, crushed
1/2 avocado, peeled and diced
2 T white vinegar
3 T mayo
Salt to taste

Combine the chicken, beans, corn, onions, tomatoes, chips and avocados. Toss. Add the vinegar and mayo. Salt as desired. EAT! Soooo yummy. Makes 2 servings.

Monday Funday!!!

First thing this morning, CrossFit.
You know you have gone crazy when you need two pairs of Mizunos for one morning.
My legs were not impressed with so many squats, followed by a run. I told them they would get used to it.
They didn't agree. By the third mile, they did.
Then, Bill brought me flowers! They are my fav, Lilys, cannot wait to see what color!
Then after work we headed to the beach.
It was gorgeous out.
I kinda like this guy....

This week's workouts...

Monday was a rest day, so I went to CrossFit, where we did sprints... So no rest day after all. :)

Tuesday I was being a giant baby because it was the first week without the girls and didn't run... Like I said, giant baby. And ended up not doing a damn thing at all. Well besides that thing I have from 8-5, called a job.

Wednesday I slogged my lazy ass out for my scheduled five mile run and got over the fact that I do indeed have to share my girls for the summer. Running helped my boobfest and ultimately turned my week around.

Thursday was the Run for the Sun 5k, which was big fun, so I got these 3 miles in plus a .1.

Friday I made up for my pouting and got my 3 miles from Tuesday in.

Saturday, today, I ran my longest run scheduled for this week, a 6 mile loop. I was a touch dehydrated by the end, need to either run with my handheld waterbottle, hydrate with more than coffee beforehand or run a loop near a drinking fountain. Because thinking about robbing an innocent fisherman for the ice you are sure is keeping their 9am beer cool is just plain rude.

So this week: 17 miles which included a fun little 5k with my fav BAM gals. :)

The plan for next week:
Sunday: Rest
Monday: CrossFit & 3 mile run
Tuesday: 6 mile run
Wednesday: CrossFit & 3 mile run
Thursday: Rest
Friday: 11 mile long run
Saturday: Light it Up 5k (it's at night!!!!)

Summer Solstice Run for the Sun 5k Recap

Umm, no big deal, but this this is my 200th Blog Post!!!!

Anyways... Back to the race recap. In one word, I could sum this race up, HOT.
Running with my two favorite runners, Mandy & Amber is always such a blast. These two are funny, fun to be around and truly becoming such amazing friends of mine. I look forward to many, many more races with these two.
It was 88 degrees out, but still a fun little race!

Getting into the swing of a summer routine...

It's funny to me how much my routine revolves around my daughters. So this week, not having them here, has really thrown me for a loop. Monday I went to CrossFit as planned and since then everything has gotten a little crazy. For one, I've hardly eaten, and what I have eaten hasn't been my norm... Cooking dinner for two people when you usually cook for either 4 or 6 or 9 just makes no sense. But I have an entire summer of this one week on, one week off crap, so I better figure it out. (And try not to be a mess missing my baby girls all summer.)

This morning, after some much needed yoga, I made a meal list with the food we currently have in the house, completely cleaned out my entire fridge which was badly needed, made a grocery list, finished up washing all the girls' bedding, then put in my five mile run. I opted out on CrossFit this morning because I have a 5k with my BAM gals tomorrow night I didn't wanna limp through more than my shitty foot would cause. Followed that up with some foam rolling which felt really good. So things, although not my normal morning schedule, have seemed to kind of fall into their place.

Also saw this on a blog I read this morning which totally cracked me up.
I have to say, I am really enjoying being back at CrossFit for my strength training, and just the overall challenge that CrossFit offers. I'm sore in places I haven't felt in several years, seeing some results already, and enjoying the exhaustion that I only feel after a crazy CrossFit WOD.

Sunday Recap

This week was a little crazy between having my girls out of school for the first week of summer, Bill's boys here, Bills parents here, last week of the girls' softball and a crazy busy week at work... It's amazing that my running schedule not only stayed on track, I also incorporated CrossFit into my routine.

Monday: Run 4 miles & Yoga
Tuesday: Run 3 miles
Wednesday: Run 5 miles & CrossFit
Thursday: CrossFit
Friday: Run 3 miles
Saturday: CrossFit
Sunday: Long Run 9 miles

This week will be totally strange around here. The girls are spending the week at their dads. So it'll be just Bill, Kimbo and I.

Three days into CrossFit...

Well I am only three days into CrossFit over at CrossFit Rove and my hands are already tore up...
Yesterday, CrossFit at 5am with my sister. One, I love to workout in the morning. Two, I love to workout with my sister, who is pretty much the coolest chick ever. And three, I got my run in. Boom. Day accomplished by 8am. Woot. Need to figure out how I am going to swing all the calorie burn of running and CrossFitting. When I got everything for the day all tallied up I was about 1000 calories shy if my caloric need... Luckily I had some wine standing by for such an occasion bringing me another terribly unhealthy 300 calories of pure bliss... So I need to look at that today and figure out how to healthily (is that a word?) fill the gap...

This morning CrossFit was crazy. A warm up of rowing, spinning and jump rope followed by an Ab WOD (which made me very happy) and then GI Jane, OHH no big deal, BUT 100 BURPEE PULL-UPs (hence the torn hands). Part way through the workout I thought, maybe just dying here on the BOX floor would be less uncomfortable then finishing this workout and doing one footed burpees... But no, as you can see, I did not die. My plan prior to CrossFit was to drive directly from the box to the levee for a three mile run... I did drive there. I did get out with my change of shoes and my music in... But when I made mile .25 and was shaking related to one nearly dying approximately 15 minutes prior and having not eaten anything since my wine the night before I knew that it was not to be... So... Gonna seriously have to figure out this food situation and plan a little better. And figure out how to either squeeze three miles into my day today between work and the girls' last softball game and having my step sons and in-laws staying at the house or give up my rest day tomorrow and run then... Whether or not I CrossFit...

Monday (err... Tuesday) Motivation

A bit behind on my posts with all the kids here and playing catch up both at work and at home from vacation. (Yes, I know it was a week ago.) Anyways... Here are a few motivators I love!
True story...
Right?! Anyways, so having all the kids here and a hectic schedule at work really forces me to focus on planning ahead. So far so good.
Breakfast and lunch prep. Yes, I jam all of this in my purse in the morning.
And made fajitas for myself last night while making the fam chicken Alfredo and prepped enough for the next three nights. WINNING! Alright, gotta go get my 3 miles in. (Woot, only 3!)

Kellogg Weekend & Long Run

This weekend we decided to run away for mini-vaca with the kiddos. I love staying at the Morning Star Lodge in Kellogg. The kids all have a great time, I am able to relax, and it's gorgeous. So Sunday morning I ran my longest run of the week, 8 miles, around Kellogg, finally finding a cool path along the river and still made it back to the condo before everyone was ready to head back to the pool.
No matter where you started the town is rural and surrounded by trees.
Stumbled upon the Trail of the CDAs.
Small trails took you right down to the river.
Then back for more fun with this crew!!

Week in Pics!!!

Girls got new haircuts, which they later in the week dyed crazy colors.
Got my eating back in check after a vacation week of noshing. Threw out all the junk in the house.
Haili left Bill this hilarious note.
And Graci wrote this in her school journal about my sister and her baby. Cute.
I got my ass and my POS foot out running again.
And our awesome Team BAM headbands came!!!
This morning I went to CrossFit with my sissy. No pics, believe me it wasn't easy on the eyes. Ha. But they have a killer setup at CrossFit Rove, a fun cool environment, and awesome coaches. Super pumped about it.
